Pheonix Foundation for Children
Nov 17-20, 2001 (West Palm Beach, FLA) James has been asked to participate in the 2001 "Champions of Children" Award Gala Weekend which is held by the Pheonix Foundation for Children. The Foundation honors individuals who serve as exceptional role models for children. This year the Pheonix Foundation honors John and Reve Walsh (hosts of Fox TV's "America's Most Wanted"), Mikhail Gorbachev, and Cal Ripken Jr. Other notables at this event include Dan Marino and Buzz Aldrin who are past recipients. Tri-Centennial Celebration of Mobile, Alabama
Oct 17-20, 2001 James has been asked by the United States Sports Academy to create an original painting for the Tri-Centennial Celebration of Mobile, Alabama. (USSA chooses sports artist of the year and Olympic Artists) James will paint the 21 professional baseball players that all came from Mobile. He will also include the history of sport in Mobile, Alabama over the last 300 years. The players that will be depicted in the artwork are: Hank Aaron, Tommie Agee, WIllie McCovey, Satchel Paige, Ozzie Smith, Eddie Stanky, Billy Williams, Amos Otis, Cleon Jones, Tommie Aaron, Terry Adams, Frank Bolling, Milt Bolling, Stan Galle, Chris Kitsos, Norm Larker, Jim Mason, Pete Milne, Walt Sessi, Dave Stapleton, and Turner Ward. Giclees and posters will be available from James' originals. The celebration will take place during the summer and James will be on hand along with many of the players. |
Cooperstown, NY
Aug 3-5, 2001 James will be a guest at "Legends Are Forever", which is located on Main St. in Cooperstown. James will be showcasing his latest art and will be signing posters during this induction weekend. James will be along side Bob Feller who will also sign posters of James' artwork. |
National Basketball Hall of Fame
Jul-Oct, 2001 (Springfield, MA) James will be displaying his fifteen original watercolor paintings of Upper Deck basketball legends from July-October of 2001. James will have his opening July 14 (invite only) along with an appearance by Julius Erving who is found in the set of peintings. Each of the fifteen paintings can be found in Upper Deck's 2001 Legends trading cards (due out 6/01) which will be called the "Fiorentino Collection". Cards will also be autographed by players. National Art Museum of Sport
Jun-Sep, 2001 (Indianapolis, Indiana) James will have a one-man show at the Museum of Art and Sport which holds the largest collection of sports art. James' show will have its opening on June 22 and will remain up until September. The show will feature 12-15 original watercoler paintings and will also include blown-up versions of James' 1999 Topps Gallery Cards. Leroy Neiman's show will follow James' in September.

Ted Williams Museum
Feb 16-18, 2001 (Hernando, Florida) James will create several original paintings that will be featured on the 2001 Induction Program cover and made into limited edition lithographs. The players that are featured on the program cover are: Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Jim Rice, Dave Winfield, Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer, Pedro Martinez, and Ted WIlliams. The lithographs will be made of the three pitchers. |
60th Anniversary of .406
Feb, 2001 James has also been asked to create a painting celebrating the anniversary of Ted Williams hitting .406 in 1941 at the age of 21. Ted is the last hitter to hit over .400 in a single season. James will unveil the original at Ted's induction February 16th-19th. There will be 406 lithos made with 41 artist proofs. Ted will sign a limited quantity of lithos.
