The Art of Sport

The artwork of James Fiorentino spans the entire spectrum of traditional art. Renowned for his ability to create uncanny likeness of famous sports icons, Fiorentino has propelled to the top of the sports art community. James has painted and illustrated some of the most famous sports figures. He has donated numerous works of art to benefit charitable organizations. As the youngest artist inducted into the prestigious New York Society of Illustrators in 1998, James continues to prove his achievements as a highly regarded illustrator and painter.

National Art Museum of Sport - Super Bowl
February, 2012

Indianapolis

James created paintings for the Football Invitational that include Drew Brees, Hines Ward, Paul Hourning and Bart Staar. The originals which have been hanging at Namos will now be on display at the Monument Circle at IPL during the month of January. For more information go to www.namos.iupui.edu.

The National Art Museum of Sport (NAMOS) will open the Football Invitational exhibit at NAMOS on July 28, 2011. The exhibit will feature nearly fifty paintings, sculptures and photographs from many of the top sport artists from around the world.

The eyes of the football world will turn to Indianapolis this February when Super Bowl XLVI will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The inaugural Big Ten Championship game will also be in Indianapolis on December 3, 2011. Until then, the eyes of the world can celebrate the great athletes and moments of the game of football at NAMOS’ Football Invitational exhibit. The exhibit will celebrate the fine art depictions of professional, collegiate, and pick-up football.

Some of the great artists included in this year’s exhibit are: Benjamin Blackburn, Chris Bucher, David Burnett, Tony Capparelli, Donna Carr, Charles Fazzino, James Fiorentino, Bart Forbes, Troy Hayes, Bob Hogan, Ken Kalman, Larry Klukaszewski, Patrick Mack, Marc Mellon, John Melvin, Bill Menzel, LeRoy Neiman, John Oilar, Debbie Sampson, Joe Sinnott, Dan Tearle, and Elaine Wolfe.

The exhibit closes February 29, 2012.

NEW YORK - The sports capital of the world will host a world-class show of paintings by renowned sports artist James Fiorentino celebrating the legendary athletes and professional sports franchises that called Ebbetts Field, the Polo Grounds, Shea Stadium and Yankee Stadium home.

“Bergino Baseball Clubhouse Presents: The Baseball Art of James Fiorentino,” hosted by Clubhouse owner Jay Goldberg opens Sept. 19 and runs through Oct. 15 in Greenwich Village at the landmark Cast Iron Building, 67 East 11th Street.

“The show will feature vintage NY baseball paintings with a few current players like Derek Jeter and David Wright,” Fiorentino explained. “I want to tell a story about New York’s rich baseball history, when fans had three teams to cheer for, the Giants, Dodgers and Yankees.”

The show will pay tribute to cherished New York sports legends and Hall-of-Famers like Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Duke Snider and others.

There will be 20 original Fiorentino paintings on display; many are new pieces Fiorentino has been working on to unveil at Bergino Baseball Clubhouse including Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig, Tom Seaver, Sandy Koufax, Mickey Mantle and Derek Jeter. Also available for purchase will be selected giclee reproductions.

Visitors are invited to fill out an entry form for a drawing to win an original Fiorentino painting of Mickey Mantle.

The “Cake Boss,” Buddy Valastro of Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, N.J. is whipping up a special surprise for the official opening on Sept. 22.

“You don’t want to miss it,” Fiorentino said.


The Bob Feller Museum Presents: The Baseball Artwork of James Fiorentino
June - August, 2011

Over a dozen of James's original baseball paintings will be on display at the Bob Feller Museum from June through August 2011. Giclees of Feller that James created exclusively for the Museum are available through the store. The Bob Feller Museum is located at 310 Mill St, Van Meter, Iowa.
