Missouri University All American Football Players

James was commissioned to create five originals paintings depicting some of Missouri's football teams latest All-Americans. These original paintings will hang at the University in their honored hall of fame rooms.

Negro League Art Contest

James is very honored to be asked to judge an upcoming art contest on the subject, The Negro Leagues. Jerry Malloy Negro League Conference and the Society for American Baseball Research announce a National Call for Art for its 13th annual conference in Birmingham, Alabama this summer, July 15th-17th. The subject of the Conference is Negro League Baseball and your art is wanted! The subject matter should depict or refer to Negro League baseball in some way.

Two winners will receive a prize of $300 to go along with exhibition at the Conference and publication in the prestigious journal Black Ball in 2011. All ages invited, all traditional art mediums encouraged. Please send jpeg files on disc in a size of less than 300 dpi and $20 (Check made out to SABR) for 3 entries to Dr. Leslie Heaphy, Kent State University-Stark, 6000 Frank Road, North Canton, OH. Entry deadline is June 25, 2010.

Fox Foundation

James will be presenting Michael J. Fox an original painting to be displayed at the Fox Foundation. Limited edition giclees will be available and signed by Michael J. Fox. James will also be playing in a celbrity softball game July 10th, 2010 to benefit the Fox Foundation, which raises awareness and funds research for Parkinson's Disease.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS – Summit Medical Group hosts “Live well. Play well. A Celebration of Sport through Art,” opening Friday, September 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with music and refreshments, in the Lawrence Lower lobby Gallery, 1 Diamond Hill Road. The reception and exhibit are open to the public. The exhibit runs through January 2011.

Experience decades of sports through paint, photography and mixed media in this exhibition celebrating the active life. Sports legend Lavone “Pepper” Davis of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, will be on hand to chat with guests about being the inspiration for the movie, “A League of Their Own” and autograph her new book, Dirt in the Skirt.

The exhibit features pieces by several artists known for their work in sports, including the artwork of James Fiorentino who spans the entire spectrum of traditional art. He is the youngest artist inducted into the prestigious New York Society of Illustrators and to be featured in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Fiorentino has painted and illustrated some of the most famous sports figures including Yogi Berra, Cal Ripken Jr., Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Greg LeMond as well as many contemporary athletes. His work is part of the permanent collection in the United States Sports Academy Museum and has also been displayed at the National Basketball Hall of Fame, The National Museum of Art & Sport (NAMOS), Cycling Hall of Fame, Roberto Clemente Museum and The Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center. Most recently, Fiorentino deigned the cover for Pepper Davis’s new book, Dirt in the Skirt.
