Press Release
The National Art Museum of Sport is celebrating the tremendous season of Peyton Manning and the Colts with a limited edition of hand-pulled giclee art prints of a painting of Manning by James Fiorentino. The painting hangs in an honored place in the Museum at University Place–IUPUI.
Sale of the prints made possible by Fiorentino benefit the Museum, the nation’s premier collection of fine art depicting sport.
Just 100 of the 18 by 24 inch prints are available at $200 each by calling 317.274.4364 or at www.bookstore.iupui.edu. An additional 10 remarques, which have an added sketch by the artist, are available at $300.
Still under 30, Fiorentino has developed an extensive portfolio of portraits of sports figures including those used for baseball cards and those hanging in Halls of Fame. He also is represented in the National Art Museum of Sport with paintings of the 1978 Triple Crown of horseracing and of NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.
At the age of fifteen, James was the youngest artist to be featured in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum with his likeness of Reggie Jackson. His painting commemorating Roberto Clemente is currently featured in the Baseball Hall of Fame and will remain in the Hall’s museum as a part of its permanent collection. Although his paintings cover a wide range of sports, he has a special affinity for baseball – he was an all-state player for his high school team in New Jersey and was a four year starting shortstop at Drew University.
Fiorentino began painting portraits of sport stars as a way to collect autographs from players at trading card shows. Soon after, he embarked on a prolific artistic career, and before even finishing college, many of his paintings had been converted into trading cards, magazine covers, and lithographs, and had been featured in museums and halls of fame.
After graduating from Drew, Fiorentino has focused full-time on his artistic career, working in his home studio in Flemington, New Jersey. In 2000, the National Art Museum of Sport mounted an exhibit of his work. He now serves on the Museum’s Board of Governors.
The National Art Museum of Sport, founded in 1959, is open to the public free of charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Museum receives support from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, City of Indianapolis and the Regional Arts Partnership of the Indiana Arts Commission. For more information call, 317.274.3627, or visit www.namos.iupui.edu.

The original and 110 reproductions were all autographed by Bernie and will be available to purchase and bid on through the WHMT website. (www.wmht.com) Bernie who is a fan of PBS loved James' depiction of him at bat.
