Horse Racing Gallery

James has been painting images of race horses and jockeys since 2003. His first original was to commemorate the 1978 Triple Crown which was the 25th anniversary at that time and the last triple crown as well. The original depicting Affirmed Vs Alydar became the official artwork and Steve Cauthen and Jorge Velasquez signed limited edition lithographs. James toured the three Triple Crown tracks that summer and appeared on "Breakfast at Churchill Downs" on ESPN. The original artwork currently resides in National Art Museum of Sports permanent collection.

That same year James created his first painting to be presented at the Siro’s Cup in Saratoga, NY to the honoree which has included Jerry Bailey, Angel Cordero, Todd Pletcher, Nick Zito, Mary Lou Whitney, John Velasquez, Javier Castellano, etc. The event kicks off the race season in Saratoga and benefits Albany’s Center For Disability Services. For over fifteen years James’s has presented his artwork to some of the biggest legends in racing.
